Serene Separations

Separation anxiety is a fear of being left alone. Your dog can’t help his or her reaction. It’s distressing for both of you. You can’t make yourself be calm when you’re gripped with fear and panicking and neither can your dog. A dog who cannot be left for their own or your home’s safety can be severely life-restricting.

This three part course gives you the seven steps to success you need to help your separation anxious dog, including a supporting workbook. The good news is that three-quarters of dogs can be cured of the problem and the other quarter helped significantly. The bad news is that it takes time to do the training.

The first part describes what separation anxiety is and what it isn’t. You’ll learn what causes separation problems and discover the first two steps and four exercises to helping your dog cope with being left alone.

In the second part, you’ll learn about the different additional treatments for separation problems, work through the next three steps and four important games in the programme, and discover the magic of random rewards. You’ll also learn about the importance of diary and record keeping and how it will help sustain you during the weeks and months you might need until your dog is calm being left.

The final part covers the final two steps to success and the final four exercises. You’ll discover how to address departure cues so they stop causing your dog distress and you’ll finally be able to work up to leaving your dog alone for an increasing length of time.
