Socialisation At A Distance

Most people understand the importance of socialising your new puppy, but it’s not always easy to get good information on how to do it properly. There’s a lot if mis-information out there. But it’s straightforward to do it well once you know how.

Socialisation is about helping your puppy to be comfortable and confident with everything they’ll meet in life. This three session course, teaches you how to help your new puppy get to grips with our crazy world and help them grow into a happy, confident adult dog.

Session 1 covers how to use a wide range of the things you’ll have around your house and garden to help your puppy get used to surfaces, moving objects, textures and varying heights. It also covers the most important area of socialisation – getting your pup comfortable with all the different ages, types and sizes of people they’ll encounter.

Session 2 shows you how to teach your puppy to deal with novel experiences and how they can learn that loud noises aren’t scary. This session also covers how to teach your puppy to be relaxed when left home alone – a key part of any dog’s training.

Finally, session 3 shows you how to make the most of your limited exercise walks – it’s vital not to over-exercise young pups, how to socialise them with other dogs – and that is NOT about lots of playing. You’ll also learn what important problem prevention training you can do – because prevention is always better than curing a problem later on.

Carole’s Zoom classes were fantastic so helpful, clear and friendly. It was also great to see other dog owners having similar issues.
