How to Train and Handle your Human Clients

Working with dogs is in reality all about working with people.  The main job of a dog trainer isn’t to train and handle dogs – it’s to train and handle human beings.

This fourteen Module course is unique. It teaches dog trainers how to manage and best help their owners through understanding how people tick, how to build a successful relationship and how to deal with all the different types of people and problems that will present themselves, as well as giving you the self-awareness and tools you need to become a great and successful dog trainer.

The course is split into two parts. It is designed to give you a good basic knowledge about human behaviour and how to communicate effectively with clients. It will help you put that knowledge into practice so you can become a highly effective dog (and human) trainer. Part 2 of the course will help you handle the inevitable stresses and strains and internal doubts you will face and will help you to help yourself reach your full potential.

Part 1 has eight Modules focused on how to handle clients:

  • Module 1: Dog trainers don’t train dogs
  • Module 2: Engagement and relationship building part 1
  • Module 3: Engagement and relationship building part 2
  • Module 4: Personality types and how to deal with them
  • Module 5: Teaching skills
  • Module 6: Motivation to practice and continue training
  • Module 7: Common client “problems”
  • Module 8: Risk management and change management

Part 2 of the course has six Modules all about how to handle yourself to become a great dog trainer:
