This course is designed to give interested dog owners, dog walkers, dog groomers and dog trainers a good basic knowledge about why dogs to the things they do. It’ll bust quite a few of the common myths that abound. My aim is to give you some light-bulb moments and help you understand our four-legged best friends better. It’s not a “how-to” course to deal with problem behaviours. Instead it will give you a framework to explain the overall species behaviour, insights into what dogs are saying to us – all the time – and why some of those so-called problem behaviours occur. I’ll explain the basics of how dogs learn and how to use that information to change a dog’s behaviour. By the end of the course you’ll have learnt:
- how dogs developed and why dogs do what they do
- how to work out what your dog is trying to tell you
- how dogs learn (and how you can teach them best)
- the basics of how to change behaviour – and who needs to change
I promise I won’t use any dog trainer jargon – or if I do I’ll explain it in full in plain English! I’ve also tried to make the course fun. Enjoy!
